Billy's Magical Pen

Billy had been sent a lovely pen from his Aunt Grace in
Australia.  It was shaped like a boomerang and had a picture
of a kangaroo and some squiggly bits on it, that looked like
writing.

Billy asked his mummy and daddy if they knew what the writing
said but they didn't know, and wasn't sure if it was only some
pattern on the boomerang.

He loved his pen and went upstairs to get his drawing book.  Billy
was forever going through pens as he loved to  draw.  He would draw birds, and dogs and cats, sometimes he would try and
draw his toy soldiers.  He loved drawing so much,he would
try and copy anything he saw.

The day he got the pen, the weather was warm and sunny,
so he went out to the garden to see what he could draw.

There was a little bird sitting on the fence, so he decided to
draw that.  When he had finished drawing and colouring in,
something very strange happened; the little bird came alive
and flew out of the page.

Billy stood up and watched with his mouth wide open, as the
little paper bird flew over to the fence where the real little
 bird was sitting.

The real bird looked at the paper bird, then it flew away
leaving the paper little bird all alone.  Billy then decided to
draw another little bird.  When he had finished drawing and
colouring in the second little bird did the same as the first.
It also became alive and flew out of the paper.

It flew over to the fence where the other paper bird was sitting,
and they both sat next to each other, chirping away.  In fact
Billy was sure that he saw one of the little birds put a wing
round the other little bird.

Billy had been given a magical pen.  He didn't tell his mummy
and daddy what had happened.  He was going to keep it a secret,
well just for a little while.

He was sure he was going to have an adventure with his magical
pen.  For now though he put it back in the box until the next

day when he would draw something else.
